Ice Cream Novelty only at Novotel Manila-Araneta Center
The only luxury hotel this side of the Metro, Novotel Manila-Araneta Center is also known for its delicious albeit not-your-usual ice cream offerings at Ice N Cream.
Located on the ground floor of the hotel, Ice N Cream boasts of a lineup of products made only from the most premium ingredients.
Its most popular flavor is the Leche de Almond, inspired by the favorite Filipino dessert leche flan, but with the surprising and welcome touch of crushed almonds.
Ice N Cream has also recently started offering Build Me Up Butterpop, which is inspired by buttered popcorn; Say Cheese(cake)! that tastes like amaretto cranberry cheesecake; the four seasons-inspired Burst of Summer; and Hey Ginger, You're So Pine, which mixes the sweet taste of pineapple with a kick of ginger.
Ice N Cream also offers 2 sugar-free ice cream flavors for those who are watching their weight but are not willing to give up their ice cream fix: “Yo berry You” (yogurt with berries) and “Oh Honey Honey” (Calamansi and Honey).
Dairy Queen Offers a Blizzard of Flavors
Ice cream is the king of desserts, and when it comes to this cold, sweet treat, Dairy Queen is, well, royalty.
Making sure to always offer something new to its customers, Dairy Queen has partnered with renowned chocolate maker Cadbury to produce its Blizzard of the Month in three flavors: Rocky Road, Choco Berry and Oreo.
Dairy Queen stores are located in Gateway Mall, Gateway Tower Mall, Ali Mall, Farmers Plaza, Araneta Coliseum and Kia Theatre.
Gift Avenue: The Gift That Keeps on Giving
Gift Avenue is not your usual café.
Located on the ground floor of the Gateway Mall just across the Araneta Center LRT station, Gift Avenue offers delicious food and desserts, refreshing drinks and doubles as a merchant of nice and thoughtful presents.
Listening to feedback from their customers, Gift Avenue Café combines café staples with the most popular flavors to produce unique and exciting drinks like the Match Espresso, the Mango Basil, the Mango Lime Shake, Oreo Frappe and the Ube Frappe.
Everything about the place and the menu is Instagrammable including its sans rival cakes which come in seven flavors: classic, mango, matcha, ube, espresso, salted caramel, strawberry, dark chocolate and Biscoff. Its brownies overload—homemade brownies with a scoop of vanilla ice cream—are also worth a try.
Chopstop: A “chop” above the rest
The summer presents a perfect time for friends to get together.
One of the places where friends can hang out at the Araneta Center is Chopstop, located on the second floor of New Farmers Plaza.
Some of the restaurant’s popular offerings are the pork barbecue chop and the mushroom gravy pork which have become favorites because of their special sauces. Their meals come with unlimited servings of rice.
Perfect for the entire barkada, however, is its Chows Platter which has fries, bacon cracklings and nachos, an ideal match for their all-day unlimited margarita.
Its smoothies are also made with yoghurt, which is of course a healthy alternative to syrups.
Kids will also surely enjoy their unique take on mug cakes especially the fudge brownie that comes with a scoop of ice cream. For the Lenten season, it is offering Fish Chops with free side dish.
Perky SummerTIMe only at Tim Hortons
Tim Hortons, Canada’s number one coffee, has only recently opened at Araneta Center. But it has already become a favorite hangout place for coffee lovers.
Located at the Kia Theatre arcade, Tim Hortons has a relaxing store vibe with ample seats for friends and families who want to enjoy its perky treats.
Some of its bestsellers—the signature Iced Capp that comes in various flavors like Hazelnut, Mocha, Caramel and Vanilla—are perfect for the summer.
According to the store’s staff, the flavors of their cappuccino complement the blended ice better, resulting in tastier, more delightful drinks.
From March 1 to March 6, Tim Hortons is also having the Breakfast Brewout where customers can get a free breakfast sandwich from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. for every coffee beverage they purchase. Talk about a filling start to Summer!
All In This Summer at Ally’s
Ally’s All Day Breakfast has carved a niche in the market because it serves delectable Filipino and continental breakfast dishes from sun up to sun down.
And there is no stopping it this summer.
One of its more popular offerings is the white chocolate strawberry which has ice cream, strawberries, blueberries, crushed almond and white chocolate sauce on top of two layers of pancakes.
Among its beverages, the two bestsellers are the smores milkshake and the caramel milkshake. Its caramel milkshake stands out because it is made of cookie butter.
The family-friendly place located at the Manhattan Parkview is often frequented by sports superstars Alyssa Valdez and Kiefer Ravena and other athletes and coaches especially when there are games at the Araneta Coliseum.
Bok um Box Has Halo-Halo with a Korean Twist
The Filipino dessert halo-halo has always been the most perfect reliever during the scorching days of Summer.
But a Korean restaurant located at the Cyberpark Tower 1 is putting a twist to this classic.
Aside from selling flavorful chicken and traditional Korean side dishes, Bok um Box also offers Korean halo-halo which is basically the patbingsu for the Filipino market.
The dessert has shaved ice, fresh fruit slices, milk, ice cream and red beans as main ingredients, and retails for as low as P55.
Sweet Blooms Café: In Bloom This Season
Sweet Blooms has been known for its sweet-literally and figuratively—pastillas flowers, but it has branched out into the coffee shop sector via Sweet Blooms Café.
Located on Level 1 of the Gateway Tower Mall, Sweet Blooms Café still sells its signature candies and offers affordable hot and old coffee, which are perfect partners to its appetizing cupcakes and cakes.
Popular to its younger crowd, however, are its flavored sodas which come in different variants like the Blue Ocean Soda (P75), made with special Blue Ocean syrup and lemonade that is both refreshing and fascinating.
Summer is the perfect time to engage in outdoor activities. And given the heat of the sun, it is also imperative to consume as much fluids possible.
For those looking to quench their thirst with healthier options, there is Fresh Bar by the Big Chill on the second floor of Ali Mall.
Big Chill by Fresh bar offers variety of shakes that are both satisfying and healthy.
Their best-selling shakes for summer are mango shake and watermelon shake, partly owing to the fact that these fruits are also abundant during this season.
It also offers Superchargers—beverages that blend nutrients, anti-oxidants and amino acids with fruits.
Cocovida: Street Fare at the Mall
Did you know that aside from the Oasis, there is another garden at the Gateway Mall where you can chill?
The Topiary on the fifth floor of the Gateway Mall houses Coco Vida which sells refreshing fruit juices, fruit shakes and street food like fish balls, squid balls, kikiam, kwek-kwek and isaw: a perfect merienda while you and your loved ones watch the sun set.
Whether your favorite heat relievers this hot summer season are ice creams, iced coffee, fruit shakes, smoothies, milkshakes or the no-frills street food, Araneta Center surely has you covered.
