Must-Watch Movies this Valentine's Week

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and, although going on a movie date night isn’t
exactly the most groundbreaking idea ever, you can never go wrong with a classic. Whether
it’s surprising your significant other, hanging out with your best friend, sibling, or parent, or
treating yo’ self, we’re serving a carefully curated movie selection just for you.

Peep these five must-watch movies at Gateway Cineplex and Ali Mall Cinemas:

On Vodka, Beers, and Regrets (Now Showing)

Starring the JC Santos and Bela Padilla, this movie isn’t your typical love story. Washed-up actress and former child-star Jane Pineda, whose career is on the verge to hit rock bottom, struggles to snag projects—but with a scandal on the side, she finds comfort in alcohol. Will band vox Francis be enough to change her ways and be a better person?

Birds Of Prey (Now Showing)

We all know Harley Quinn as Joker’s crazy ex, but there seems to be more to her than
this?? After her nasty breakup, Harley Quinn joins superheroes Black Canary, Huntress,
and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord. Who’d have thunk?

Fantasy Island (Showing on February 12)

We know, we know. It’s a supernatural horror film but hear us out—the 2020 adaptation is
mightily similar to the 70s drama series. The enigmatic Mr Roarke makes the secret dreams
of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort, but when the
fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island's mystery in order to
escape with their lives.

James and Pat and Dave (Showing on February 12)

You might know the film, Vince and Kath and James that was shown last December 2016 as
a MMFF entry. James, Ronnie Alonte, is now back on its sequel, James and Pat and Dave.

James’ bad-boy image tames down as he gets sent to work at a resort to get his life
straightened out. Here he meets Pat, who is on a sordid quest to make her ex-boyfriend
Dave jealous. It’s your quintessential love triangle, but let’s see if James gets his happy
ending this time around.

Sonic The Hedgehog (Showing on February 19)

Sonic The Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy inspired by the famous video game
franchise made by Sega. The film follows the adventures of our beloved bright blue
hedgehog, Sonic, who tries to navigate the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound
(human) best friend, Tom Wachowski. With their teamwork, can they stop the evil plans of
Dr. Robotnik?
